The other day I was talking to a friend about how I don't really own any "bum" clothes. I once invested in a really nice Juicy Couture tracksuit, mind you it took me forever to find one that I really liked, and I only remember wearing it about two times during winter. It's just not my thing. A casual, laid-back outfit for me would be something like the one pictured above: a basic t-shirt with some sort of funky trousers and complete with lots of accessories.

I'd love to know: what is your idea of "bum" or laid-back/wear-at-home clothing?

P.S. I went to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) yesterday with one of my good friends, Kevin, and had the best time! We decided not to go on any of the rides because we ate a lot of food and didn't want to get sick, but played a bunch of other games and went to the casino. If you haven't been yet this summer, I suggest you go! It lasts a total of 13 days and September 3 will be the last night.

Green Jeans and Stripes

Lately I've been reading fashion magazines religiously, trying to get inspired for fall looks. One thing I keep noticing is that colour won't be going away that easy! Of course, this makes me happy since everything I have in my wardrobe from spring/summer is some sort of bright shade.

You may have seen these aqua-teal coloured jeans on my blog before, I've featured them with a lace top here, and I also did a post about them on Chictopia a few months ago. I love trying to pair a bright or pastel colour with different patterns. This look was my favourite out of many that I tried, so I thought I'd share!

I got these flats from Burlington Coat Factory when I was in Phoenix, Arizona. They have been giving me some problems as I'm still trying to break into them, but they're incredibly cute so it doesn't matter, right?

P.S. I got a haircut. My hair was so fried from the ends that I just had to get rid of it. I'm absolutely loving the medium-length look these days!

Liebster Award (tag) and a Jumpsuit

Outfit Details: Jumpsuit (H&M), Handbag (Kathy Van Zeeland), Black Cardigan (eBay), Necklace + Beige Flats (Ardene's)

One trend that I look forward to coming back every spring/summer is jumpsuits. If you've never worn one, I'll tell you now - it's a pain when you go to the bathroom because you have to take the entire thing off, but jumpsuits are the most comfortable piece of clothing ever!

This one was an instant grab for me when I saw it in the sale section at H&M. I decided to add some black into the mix with light shoes to keep the contrast. It may be a bit much for some, but I love it!

Liebster award (tag)

A few weeks ago, I was tagged by Stephanie, the wonderful blogger behind Pretty And Delectable for a Liebster award! It's given to up-and-coming bloggers as a way of breaking the ice and getting to know one another.

The rules of this tag are:
  1. Each person tagged has to post 11 things about themselves. (I'm skipping this step just 'cause I can)

  • Answer the questions that the tagger set for you, plus create 11 questions for the people you've tagged to answer.
  • Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
  • Go to their page and tell them. (I follow them all on Twitter, so I will tweet them instead)
  • No tag backs!
  • Here we go...

    Q&A:
    1. Gold or silver?
I've always preferred silver, but gold has been growing in the last couple of years. My current swoon is the Anthropologie's delicate elephante necklace (in gold). I love animals a little too much.

  • What is your favorite candy?
Skittles always wins. I may be the only person in the world who likes candy more than chocolate.
  • Best book you’ve read recently.
I've been talking about this for a while, mainly because I hardly find time to read other than when I'm on the subway, but I've slowly been reading A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin (Game of Thrones). I love the show but the books are even better. I'm currently on book 3!
  • Link and/or photo of a handbag that you are currently coveting.
Tory Burch anything please. I'm absolutely loving the Daria Top Handle Satchel (in navy). It is gorgeous, and would look fantastic on my arms. ;)
  • A sentence or two describing a happy memory from your childhood.
One thing many people may not know about me is that I love to sing. When I was still living back home in Pakistan, my mom used to be the vice principal at the elementary school I was in. The perks I got were amazing… free food, great marks, tons of friends (haha). Anyway, everyday, after all the students and teachers had gone home, I always had time to kill before my mom was finished her work. I would go to the assembly area, which was a giant field where we would gather for events or announcements, and I would sing my heart out (in front of an empty crowd). It was so much fun!
  • Three favorite online shopping websites.
I'm a crazy online shopper and actually like it more than going to the mall. I hate the craziness of customers, it brings really bad memories of me working in retail, so I usually skip that step and buy almost everything online. The three places I shop the most are Forever 21 (easy, fast affordable), Etsy (for unique and vintage pieces), and Amazon (books and movies).
  • Something that you learned recently.
I love Mexican food and just learned how to make delicious beef burritos. You can make them in bulk too! Find the recipe here.
  • Beauty product you can’t live without.
Concealer! My current favourite is Benefit's Boi-Ing Concealer.
  • A pet peeve.
Most of my pet peeves are related to people and their habits, so I won't get too personal. One thing that really bothers me is when people chew gum loudly!
  • What is your favourite season of the year?
It's a tie between summer and fall. I love the hot weather, but I also really enjoy the transition from the humidity in the summer to having cooler nights in the fall. My favourite month is September.
  • Number of hours you slept last night.
I think I got about 5 hours. I usually get to bed around midnight and wake up at 6:30 a.m.
  •  Now, here are my 11 questions:
    1. What is your go-to movie if you're ever feeling down, tired or upset?
    2. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
    3. What are the top three blogs/news sources on your daily reading list?
    4. Briefly explain your daily beauty routine.
    5. Tell me the top 11 songs on your current playlist.
    6. What did you think of the London 2012 Olympics?
    7. Your current favourite TV show.
    8. What is your perfect meal?
    9. Excluding your blog, what is your favourite social network?
    10. What movie are you looking forward to watching this year?
    11. What grinds your gears?
I'm tagging the following blogger superstars:
    1. Crosshatch
    2. Frock Files
    3. Glamorous Hustle
    4. Laid Off Mom
    5. LOVE Zahra
    6. Luxurisms
    7. Melissa To And Fro
    8. My Daily Randomness
    9. SaimaStyle
    10. She Pulls The Trigger
    11. The Fitted Frame
If I haven't tagged you, feel free to do this tag anyway and let me know if you do! I would love to read your answers.

Splash of Turquoise, Dinosaur Tracks, and More

    |

Outfit Details: Turquoise Top (Forever 21), Cross-body Handbag (Aldo), Black Gladiator Sandals (Ardene's), Gold Necklace (thrifted)

Last week was eye-opening for me. I traveled across The States (mainly stayed in Arizona) and saw things I never could have imagined. If I told you the photo above was of me holding fossilized dinosaur poop, would you believe me?

That's right. A little past the eastern entrance of the Grand Canyon National Park is an area called Tuba City, which is noted for having dinosaur tracks. It is ran by the Navajo community and they offer tip-based tours around the tracks, explaining what they believe each item is. I took thousands of photos and while I'd love to share all of them with you, it would take me ages to edit and upload. Instead I put together a mini photo collage to show you the items that excited me the most.

Top Left: A fossilized dinosaur egg. Bottom Left: The tracks found all around the area. Full Right: This is believed to be the footstep of a Dilophosaurus outlined by stones.

The photos above are of The Grand Canyon from many different areas of the park. This place is definitely more beautiful in-person, and I recommend that you go to see it at least once in your life.

Hope you enjoyed this mini traveling post. It's good to be back home again, but I really miss the natural beauty of Arizona!

    Pack Less, Travel More

Outfit Details: Button-up T-shirt + Earrings (Forever 21), Cross-body Handbag (Aldo), Black Gladiator Sandals (Ardene's), Pearl Bracelet Set (Joe Fresh)

Whenever I'm travelling, whether it's for a weekend or 10 days, I always prefer to pack light. The idea of lugging around giant suitcases throughout a trip really bothers me. I would rather have less (and most necessary items), than things that I know I probably won't need at all.

Of course this can be difficult, especially if you want to look great the entire time you're away. Choosing between your favourite beauty products or shoes is a daunting task, but if I can do it (the girl who is attached to EVERYTHING in her room), trust me, you can too!

It took me a long time to figure out how to pack properly and efficiently. Here are a few tips I abide by, and maybe they can be helpful to you.

    • Start by gathering what you need the most. This would be your undergarments, sleepwear, and socks if need be.
    • Once you have packed those items, look through your wardrobe for outfits that you would like to wear. I normally do laundry right before a trip, and it helps me sort through clothes that I would like to take, and I put the rest away.
    • One thing to keep in mind while you're packing is what exactly you will be doing during your trip. You might have to pack a few dresses for special occasions, or if you are going on more of an adventurous vacation, you will need more comfortable clothes along with running shoes or hiking boots.
    • Time to pick your shoes and accessories. I tend to go for timeless pieces, like a pair of black sandals and a mixture of gold-plated and silver-plated jewels (necklaces, earrings, bracelets), as I know these items will match all my outfits perfectly.
    • Choosing what facial, skin and beauty products to bring is the toughest part of packing. You always have to keep the airline limit in mind (if there is one), and bring the most important things. I usually pack my shampoo, conditioner and other necessary items into small containers, you can find them at your local dollar or drug store. For makeup, I bring items that I use regularly, that being powder foundation or tinted moisturizer, blush, eyeliner, and maybe a couple of lipsticks. Unless I am planning on attending a destination wedding, there is no use for a full eyeshadow set. I usually just throw in my Urban Decay palettes, and I'm good to go!
    • Once you are done packing all the necessary items, and if you have still have space for more, this is when you start filling your bags with more items  that you want to bring.
    • TIP for more space: If you don't want to check in any bags, try to bring more efficient carry-ons. I always bring one carry-on suitcase, a backpack with my electronics and other items I could fill (this would be considered my carry-on personal item), as well as a small cross-body handbag (like the one pictured above). I can easily get away with all three items.
That sums it up. I would love to know how you pack or if you have any tips and tricks to share!
