Launch of MAC's Marilyn Monroe Collection

Outfit Details: Floral Heart Crop Top (H&M), Black Bodycon Dress (BEBE) Black Suede Pumps (Aldo), Handbag (Marc Jacobs), Accessories (various)

Believe it or not, I'm wearing a very nice, fitted black dress under this crop top. The dress is actually a little too sexy to be worn during daytime, especially to work, so I paired it with this simple, casual floral t-shirt. I decided against a necklace, and stuck to the big studded feather earrings and bangles.

I wore this outfit to the secret viewing of MAC Cosmetics' Marilyn Monroe collection that I got an invitation to. I took two of my close girlfriends with me, and let me tell you, this event was definitely not a secret. We went to the Square One location and it was PACKED. We arrived early for our 7:30 p.m. viewing, and the line-up for people who already RSVP'd (like us) was already pretty big. Nevertheless we were able to get in right on time and look at the collection, do a few swatches (photographed below), and enjoy some appys.

The Marilyn Monroe collection is displayed right near the entrance of the store. The colours are definitely fall-ready!

One of my friend's modeled her hand for me as she painted each of her finger nails a different colour out of the four nail lacquers in the limited edition Marilyn Monroe collection.

...while my other friend did lovely swatches of the five lipsticks on her wrist. I want them all!

My two girlfriends with one of the servers at the Marilyn Monroe launch event (Square One location).

One of the appetizers they served were these chicken salad sandwiches.

Here we all are with the Marilyn Monroe of Square One's MAC store. Overall I had a great time with my girlfriends (thank you for coming with me!) and really like the collection as well.

From PB&J Mag: Hair Oil Treatments

|
After a mini-hiatus, I've finally written a new piece over at PB&J Mag, the other blog that I co-write and manage with James Rubec.

I've tried many different hair oil treatments in the past few years and thought I would give a quick rundown of how I felt with each one. I have experimented with Macadamia Natural Oil's Healing Oil Treatment, Moroccanoil, as well as the new hair products by Marc Anthony, Repairing Macadamia Oil and Oil of Morocco Argan Oil.

I'm also curious to know which hair products you love and hate, so feel free to comment and discuss with me!

One Cardigan Worn Six Different Ways

|

(Photos by Saima)

Last week I got together with another Toronto blogger, Saima Style, to collaborate with on this post! We took a basic, black-and-white striped cardigan from H&M and came up with six different looks using it. I'm posting three that I wore and styled here on my blog, and Saima has three uploaded on hers, so be sure to check out all six outfits!

Keep reading more for outfit details and what inspired me to create the looks!

Outfit Details: Skinny Jeans (MANGO), Button-up T-shirt (Forever 21) Beige Pumps (SPRING Shoes), Necklace (Ardene's), Accessories (Forever 21)

Buttoned-up collared shirts are going to be seen everywhere this fall/winter! I wanted the cardigan to be the main focus in this outfit, so I made sure of that by pairing it with a neutral-coloured top. I also added one of my favourite pearl necklaces to enhance the collar and finished the look with beige pumps. If you work in a semi-formal office and are allowed to wear jeans, this look can definitely be worn to work! Otherwise I suggest wearing this to a fun girls night out.

Outfit Details: Denim Shorts (Forever 21), Black Oxford Booties + Crossbody Handbag (Aldo) Belt + Leggings (H&M), Ring (Butterfly Beads)

If you've been following my blog for a while, you've probably guessed by now that I'm obsessed with light brown leather. In the outfit above, I highlighted that colour by adding a light brown belt with a matching crossbody handbag. The shorts suggest that this look is super casual, but definitely trendy for fall because of the leggings. I'm in love!

Outfit Details: Burgundy Skirt + Beret + Leggings (H&M), Black Oxford Booties (Aldo) Necklace (Drama Queen by Flhair)

You can call this colour burgundy or maroon, either way, it's VERY in right now and I just had to have a piece of it. For this outfit I tried on a beret for the first time in my life, and I actually really like it on me. You'll definitely be seeing more of it on this blog! I wore a similar outfit like this to a friend's place the other night, as it was a nice dinner and get-together. I decided not to go too heavy on accessories, because the stripes were already almost overbearing the entire look, so just kept it simple with a gold-and-black necklace; it has a sea horse on it!

Goodbye Summer

Outfit Details: Maxi Dress (Katie Clothing), Denim Jacket (Buffalo Jeans) Brown Wedges (SPRING Shoes), Necklace (Ardene's), Pearl Ring (Forever 21), Beige Clutch (random shop at an airport...)

There's something about the end of summer that makes me really sad, but happy at the same time. While I enjoy going to the beach, neon bright clothing, BBQ and picnics at the local park, autumn is my favourite season. I love all the new arrivals, darker and more prominent colours, and chilly nights. I'm afraid that as the years go by, this season gets shorter and shorter but I still like to embrace it as much as I can before winter peaks in.

My friend Joy from Frockfiles.com tweeted this great recipe for oatmeal yesterday and that's when I knew I was ready for summer to end. I've already started organizing my wardrobe for the fall/winter, so this will mark as my last outfit of summer 2012.

One of my favourite trends was the classic denim jacket with a floral-print dress, and that's what I've done here with this maxi dress. The contrast of the dark denim goes well with the beige, and I added white as a slight accent to brighten up the look.

What were some of your favourite trends for this past summer? Maybe we can reminisce together. :)

Pretty in Peplum

Outfit Details: Pink and Black Peplum Dress (Blooming Clothing), Suede Pumps (BOC Shoes) Black Cardigan + Leggings (H&M), Necklace + Earrings + Ring (gift), Pearl Watch (Forever 21), Black Clutch (vintage)

I remember when I was a little girl, peplum was huge. All my older aunts and cousins were into the look; peplum tops, dresses, skirts, pants, you name it, they had it! I thought it looked hideous, but I was also a tomboy and despised the colour pink. Here I am about 11 years later, wearing a bright pink and black peplum dress and I just love it!

Peplum is definitely here to stay for a while. If you invested in this trend earlier this year, try to pair it with darker, more subtle colours and you're ready for fall/winter 2012. I've also been eyeing peplum jackets and can't wait to find the perfect one to add to my wardrobe!

Now I'm off to a social media set-up meeting... wish me luck!
