Guess what friends? I'm currently in Barbados for a big work conference with Spark Internet Marketing Corporation. It's very bright and sunny here. I realized that I hadn't shown you photos of World MasterCard Fashion Week (or Toronto Fashion Week) which just passed, so here I am, sharing my experience with you.

Out of all the outfits I wore last week, this was my favourite. The dress is a statement all on its own, so I knew I had to keep it simple with the accessories.

Toronto Fashion Week was great. The last time I attended was a couple of years ago, and while a lot has changed since, there are some things that remain the same. A lot of my blog readers and subscribers on YouTube ask me how to get involved and get known in fashion, and I have to say that it's a tough industry. If you're not confident, a little bit selfish, and willing to put yourself out there and introduce yourself to people, it's really hard for them to give a s***. If you believe in yourself and take pride in it, other people will believe it too. It's a bit harsh, but it's true, and it probably works this way in most industries. If you ever have any questions for me, feel free to e-mail me and I will be more than happy to chat with you.

On to the photos!

Here we are at the tents!

I got a photo with Taylor Ferri, a PR pro who I've been talking to online for a while and finally got to meet her at Toronto Fashion Week.

This was the Maybelline New York (Canada) booth. They had professional artists at the venue giving makeovers to attendees.

This lovely lady was at the Maybelline Canada booth each day, giving out free mascara to all attendees.

Caesarstone (Canada) was on-sight and unveiled new designs. They were giving away macaroons to represent each of the five new colours. I tried the milk chocolate one, it was delicious!

Nail bars are totally the thing this year, from being in conferences, to bar parties, and now at Toronto Fashion Week. Essie Canada was doing a fabulous job giving manicures to models backstage, as well as all attendees at the front.

Of course I had to get my nails done. In the photo above I'm wearing Essie's Leading Lady, which is part of the Winter 2012 collection. Love love love it!

That's all for now. I actually have a lot of photos from the fashion shows, but I'm not sure how I want to share them yet. Maybe a Flickr album? If you would like me to do a post on just the runway photos, let me know and I'll make it happen.

Now, I am going to enjoy a fresh coconut and sunbathe by The Crane Beach. Cheers!

Outfit Details: Peplum Top + Pearl Bracelet Set + Leggings + Black Bodycon Skirt (H&M), Black Booties (Aldo), Black Clutch (Vintage), Earrings (Butterfly Beads), Diamond Ring (LuShae Jewelry)

How lovely is fall? I adore this outfit, not only because of the peplum top from H&M, but because of how well it contrasts with the background. Look at all the pretty colours and leaves on the ground; absolutely beautiful! I wore this outfit on the first day of the ShesConnected Conference 2012 (#SCCTO) that I went to this past weekend (Oct 19-20, 2012).

The conference was great overall. I met quite a few people that I admire in the blogosphere, but also caught up with some of my Twitter friends. If you want to read my full review, you can check it out here.

One of the coolest parts of SCCTO was the Molson Lounge and all the fun activities they had set up there. Attendees were able to write a customized sign and get a creative photo done by holding it up. My friend Raymi and I had this idea of writing "WINNERS OF THE INTERNET" and making it look like we had just won a race. The photo is so fabulous that I had to share it!

Isn't that amazing? Check out her blog for more photos and other fun things.

I instagram'd pretty much the whole time I was there. If you missed the photos, here is a small recap:

(Details from left to right; horizontally)
  1. Rockstar Blogger Panel at SCCTO featuring a couple of my favourite Toronto bloggers
  2. Got a photo taken with Marta Tryshak who writes WithLoveGabrielle.com
  3. Finally met my Twitter friend and bloggerista Raymitheminx
  4. The McCafe Lounge was so nice, you could enjoy a complimentary drink while getting a manicure or a massage
  5. A photo of my 2-day attendee pass and t-shirt with my Twitter handle on it
  6. During one of the breaks, I was able to go to the iLash.me booth and get a pair of mink eyelashes
Hope you liked all the photos. If you're still curious about the LUSH Cosmetics event I went to last week, you can read all about it here.

Have a fantastic week! Come back next week to see coverage from World MasterCard Fashion Week (Toronto).

Outfit Details: Cat-printed Dress + Belt (MANGO), Brown Leggings + Ring + Earrings (H&M), Clutch (Forever 21), Brown Oxford Booties (Aldo)

Oh my, yesterday was a busy day. After work I headed over to LUSH on Queen Street West (Toronto, ON) to attend the launch of FUN, their newest collection. I was covering the event for the stylish Marta Tryshak and her blog WithLoveGabrielle.com. I can't give away details yet but I'll let you know when the story is live. In the mean time you can check out some of the photos I uploaded on Instagram.

After LUSH I went over to the Halloween-themed makeup event held by the Beauty Boutique at Shoppers Drug Mart (also on Queen Street West). The store was nicely decorated and all the employees looked really scary. They had professional makeup artists from each high-end cosmetics company, which was really cool. Since I made my appointment with Urban Decay I had the pleasure of meeting Amy Harper, who is a makeup artist and trainer for the company and also works freelance in Toronto. I told her to go crazy with my face and she did, it was fabulous! She played around with the new Vice palette and gave me a nice turquoise-black smokey eye.

The dress I wore (photographed above) was admired all night, I don't blame anyone, it is one my favourite pieces in my closet but I hardly ever wear it! I got it back when I used to work at MANGO more than a year ago. It was a catalogue piece modeled by the lovely Scarlett Johansson and sold out immediately.

Check out some photos of the Beauty Boutique makeup event.

Here I am with Amy. She did an amazing job with my eyes. She's pretty even with a scary face.

This is Debbie, she is my favourite sales advisor at the Beauty Boutique on Queen Street West. She was almost unrecognizable!

I went home and took a few photos of my makeup, I really didn't want to take it off. :(

Outfit Details: Linen Blazer (Forever 21), Flared Jeans (MANGO), Leopard-print Top (H&M), Handbag (gift from Pakistan), Beige Pumps (SPRING Shoes), Accessories (Butterfly Beads)

The one thing I love about autumn is that you can dress in layers and take them off or put more on depending on how warm or cold it is. Lately in Toronto the weather has been constantly changing through out the day -- it is usually -2 degrees (celsius) in the early morning and by noon it will go up to 20 degrees, then get chilly again in the evening. Layers are necessary, and what better way to layer than to throw on a blazer over your outfit? They look good on anyone!

This is a timeless look for me. We all know that animal print never really goes out of style, and while I'm not a huge fan of it, I like it when it's subtle or feminine. Unfortunately you won't be able to find the handbag anywhere, as it was a present from one of my cousins in Pakistan, but if you are planning on recreating this look, try this satchel from Ruche or a similar structured bag, they are everywhere right now.

What is your favourite thing about autumn? Comment or tweet me @summerxskin, maybe we have more in common than you think!

A Striped Affair

Outfit Details: A-line Striped Dress + Silver Chain + Bracelet (Forever 21), Silver Watch (Calvin Klein) Brown Suede Booties (ALDO), Red Statement Necklace (H&M)

Before I get into the details of my outfit, I want to take a moment to explain why I'm really happy today.

I first heard about Justin Trudeau back in October 2000 when he delivered a memorable eulogy at Pierre Elliott Trudeau's funeral, his father who served as Prime Minister of Canada from 1968 to 1979, and again from 1980 to 1984. It left everyone in tears as Justin concluded his speech with "J'taime papa ('I love you, dad')." I knew then that this man would run for leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada one day, and it happened last night.

I'm not sure what the campaign will bring yet, but I'm ready for a change. Canadian politics is getting exciting again and I'm glad to be alive for it. Many believe that he is simply too young to run for leadership, but I think that is exactly what we need right now, someone who can speak for the younger generation and actively make changes for the betterment of our future.

Now, moving on to the outfit - what a shift from politics to fashion, right? This dress was an instant grab for me because it is quite versatile depending on how I accent it. I paired it with red-burgundy accessories to stay on the fall colour trend, but I think it brings out the stripes even more because of it. Actually, both the handbag and red statement necklace are quite old and were hidden in the back of my closet, so I decided to bring them out again.
Hope I didn't bore you too much with my mini political rant! I promise October will get more exciting as I'm already prepping for ShesConnected Conference 2012 and Toronto Fashion Week. Let me know if you're attending either of those events!
