Clarisonic Canadian Launch Ambassador (+ giveaway)

|
Clarisonic recently launched their online store in Canada and I have signed on as a Canadian Launch Ambassador!

I've been hearing about how amazing Clarisonic is for so long that I jumped at the opportunity to try a Mia2 device. If you're unfamiliar with this brand, Clarisonic is a skincare cleansing system, where the brush is a tool to sublimate your skin. The Clarisonic brush cleanses 6x better than your hands, reducing the size of your pores and optimizing your skin's absorption of different serums and moisturizers, but also increasing their effectiveness.

The Clarisonic Mia2 (photographed above) is a travel-friendly facial sonic cleansing brush that comes with two speeds.

To celebrate the launch of Clarisonic's online store, they are currently having a contest to win a Clarisonic Revolutionary Spa Experience for you + 3 friends ($2,000 value)! All you have to do is sign up here to be entered to win this amazing SPA package. This contest ends on May 31.

As a Canadian Ambassador I will be doing an in-depth review of the Clarisonic Mia2 brush, sharing updates and promotions about the brand, but I also get to host a fabulous giveaway for one lucky reader to win a Clarisonic Mia2 brush in white ($175 value)!

WIN THE CLARISONIC MIA2 BRUSH IN WHITE ($175 VALUE)!

Outfit Details: Tunic + Envelope Clutch + Necklace (H&M), Leggings (TNA Aritzia), Loafers (Forever 21), Bracelets (Butterfly Beads), Ring (Minling Pan Studio)

As much as I love dresses and heels, I can't say no to a gorgeous pair of loafers. If I really want to wear a certain pair of shoes, I plan my entire outfit around it. The best part about these loafers is that they are water-proof!

Minling Pan Studio's MIN Launch

|
Earlier this month I had the fabulous opportunity of styling and modelling three outfits for Minling Pan Studio's 1-Year Anniversary and Product Launch Party.

I walked the runway with five other Toronto fashion personalities including Nicole (Dainty Girl), Elaine (Toronto Beauty Reviews), Brittany + Maleah (Sparks Twins) and Bianca. I won't lie, it was nerve-wracking being backstage waiting for my turn, especially since I kept having visions of falling and breaking an ankle, but I'm glad none of that happened and the whole fashion show and event was successful.

The Arta Gallery in the Distillery District was the perfect venue to host Minling Pan Studio's 1-Year Anniversary, and the runway looked great. They even had a photographer section, also famously known as the "Photo Pit".

I'd like to thank and give credit to Minling Pan (designer and host of the evening), Valerie Stachurski and Charming Media (event organizers and volunteers), Jiacong Huang + Peter Liang + Anthony Cheung + Ming Siu (photographers), the BlushPretty team and Tiffany Watson (makeup) and Spellbound Hair Design (hair). Jewelry was my own and the black patent pumps are from Nine West.

Back in January, Minling Pan Studio had a media party where we were able to preview and provide feedback on their latest and private label, MIN (handbags). Since then I've been trying to decide which gorgeous clutch to purchase, but the entire collection officially launched at the event. You can check it out and shop online as well.

The idea behind the fashion show was for Toronto fashion bloggers to style outfits using clothing from Minling Pan Studio that would complement a handbag or clutch from the MIN label. Check out the looks I created and modeled!

The first look was inspired by the Cologne Bottle Design Box Clutch, which comes in white and black with a detachable chain.

As soon as I saw this mustard-coloured Rectangle Tote (which also comes in blue), I wanted to create a look around it. I picked this zebra-print blue and white top from Minling Pan Studio's Spring/Summer 2013 collection with black pants and classic patent pumps.

My third and final look for Minling Pan Studio's Fashion Show was this incredible jumpsuit, which really didn't need any work.

The Colour-block Box Clutch (comes in red/navy or pink/coffee) is one of the most coveted pieces from the MIN collection. It's a statement in itself and can be paired well with any outfit, formal or casual, and will make you look super fashionable.

Check out some of the other looks my blogger friends styled and modeled!

Elaine Atkins from Toronto Beauty Reviews looked ravishing in a slightly messy, but classy updo. My favourite look was the black high-low dress! Click here to read her recap of the MIN Launch Party.

Nicole Wilson a.k.a. Dainty Girl changed it up a bit with a loose spiral curls. I loved how she styled the animal-print tunic dress! Don't forget to check out her recap of the event.

Walmart Frugal Heroes Challenge

|

(Photos by Maria)

Walmart Canada declared May 2nd its National Day of Savings and invited bloggers around the country to take part in the first-ever Frugal Heroes Challenge. The idea behind the campaign was for each blogger to find and share cost-effective solutions within their niche (whether it's fashion, beauty or other) while staying on a budget.

Walmart Canada offered me a $100 Gift Card to style an entire outfit and to share how much I could get and save with that amount.

I used to shop at Walmart all the time as a kid; my mom would pick out the most stylish outfits for me. As I grow older I'm starting to realize how important it is to splurge on classic and timeless pieces, but for fast-fashion I always stay on a budget and try to spend as little as possible. That's why the Walmart Frugal Heroes Challenge wasn't that hard for me. I made sure to keep a bigger budget for my shoes, and to spend less on everything else.

The first thing I spotted at Walmart were the coral platform wedges ($20) and worked my way up from there. I've been wanting a comfy pair of skinny floral jeans for a while, so when I saw that this gorgeous pair ($12) matched my wedges, my outfit was almost complete. I picked up a casual brown tee ($12) and some accessories ($18 total) to add as an accent.

Did I meet the $100 budget with this outfit?

I got the entire outfit above (6 items total) for only $71 before taxes. How incredible is that?! This look is on-trend with printed denim and coral, but it's also perfect for the weather we have these days in Toronto. You will definitely see me sporting these pieces that I got from Walmart, together and with other outfits as well.

What did I do with the leftover budget of $19.77?

I got a FABULOUS bright pink raincoat! Naturally... I had to take funny photos to share my excitement.

How do you think I did on the Walmart Frugal Heroes Challenge? Share your savvy budgeting tips with me @summerxskin.

  2. Walked the runway at Minling Pan Studio's Fashion Show and took photos afterwards with Elaine, Nicole and Valerie.
  3. Friends Deanne and Marissa came to watch the show and for support!
  4. Came home to goodies from Nivea Canada after the fashion show. I've already started using the lip balm and highly recommend it.
  5. Spotted a new board game cafe being set up right by my work. I'm a bit of a nerd, so naturally can't wait to play (everyday) after work.
  6. Got a chance to preview Smart Set's Fall/Winter 2013 collection and am really impressed. It looks like forest green, burgundy and a lot of prints will be making a comeback.
  7. I've partnered with Walmart Canada to participate in the #WalmartFrugalHeroes challenge. This is a sneak peak of the outfit I put together.
  8. I worked on a special project with Headmistress, who makes handmade headpieces and accessories. They are the most stunning pieces I've seen, and Jill's studio is so fun.

Floral Gingham Pumps

Outfit Details: Pumps + Red Pants (Forever 21), Bag (Marc Jacobs), Sunglasses (Chanel - thrifted), Top (thrifted), Blazer (Dynamite

If you were to look in my wardrobe, you'd know I have an obsession with stripes. I have striped tops, skirts, pants, tights… even bags! I have yet to find the perfect pair of striped pumps, but that day will soon come I'm sure.

I've been seeing a lot of print mixing happening lately, especially with stripes and floral print. Some people are really good at putting the two together and while I really love the look, I'm not an expert at it yet. Instead I took a more simple route by pairing a black and white striped top with floral gingham pumps. Baby steps, right?  The pop of red in my pants really completes the outfit.

This is easily one of my favourite looks. Don't be surprised if you see me wearing these pumps often, I'm in love with them!

Insta-Monday: Dufferin Mall Event, Globe Style Advisor & More

  5. These two looks were my favourite out of the five.
  6. Received my advance copy of Globe Style Advisor and really enjoyed reading it. I was really impressed with the colourful spreads. They also sent me a cosmetic bag with Philosophy goodies.
  7. Bought these black pumps on sale at Nine West. They're gorgeous and comfy!

Minling Pan Studio's Product Launch Party

|
Back in January I had the chance to check out Minling Pan Studio in Toronto, and loved it. Now it's April and Minling is celebrating her 1-year anniversary of the studio in a very special way.

On Monday, May 6, Minling Pan Studio and Charming Media will be hosting a Fashion Show and Product Launch Party for their new collection of handbags called MIN at the Arta Gallery in the Distillery District.

I'm excited to share that I will be walking the runway (as a model!) for Minling Pan Studio's Fashion Show along with five other Toronto fashion ladies Nicole (Dainty Girl), Elaine (Toronto Beauty Reviews), Brittany + Maleah (Sparks Twins) and Bianca!

The media event in January was a lot of fun with a creative set-up including a photobooth, so I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for us this time.

Hope you all can make it! RSVP by e-mail to get on the list. For all my readers and friends who aren't in Toronto, stay tuned for photos and a recap of the event.

Hot Pink Tights

|

 (Photos by Maria)

Outfit Details: Dress (H&M), Tights + Ring + Pearl Necklace + Earrings (Forever 21), Gold Necklace (Foxy Originals), Bracelet Set (Butterfly Beads), Suede Pumps (BOC Shoes), Clutch (gift)

It's no secret that I love colour, in fact when most people see me the first thing they comment on is how colourful my outfit is. While I love to embrace it I'm still pretty wary about trying trends like neon tights and pants. Every colour or shade isn't made to suit all skin-tones, so it's natural for one to be scared to implement it into their wardrobe.

Regardless, I decided to make the purchase of hot pink tights and paired them with black and bright jewels as an accent.

What do you think about neon tights and how would you pair them? I'd love to know!
