Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and got to spend some quality time with your family and friends. While I was still trying to stay active on social media and connect with you, it was really nice to unplug for a bit and enjoy the holidays to the fullest with my hubby, both our families and my best friends. As always, I do have a few posts lined up for you regarding my 2016 reflections, goals and aspirations that I'll be sharing throughout the month. Stay tuned!
Last month I went on a mini trip with James to Chicago. While he went mostly for work, I decided to tag along and explore the city. It also gave me the perfect excuse to spoil myself a little and go shopping! This video has been highly requested, especially after I shared snippets on Snapchat and Instagram. Keep in mind that I was sick during this trip and got a tooth infection. It was insanely painful and I had to cut out some of the footage because I just didn't look my best. I still hope you enjoy what I've put together. If you'd like to see more of these casual vlogs, let me know!
Chicago is a beautiful city. As I was editing my photos and working on this video, I was reminded again by how stunning the architecture is, as well as the local restaurants and cafes. It would be a great city to visit in the summertime! Even though I only had 36 hours, I'm impressed by how much I was able to get see and get done.
We stayed at the Virgin Hotel - which was remarkable all on its own. The service was incredible and they truly made us feel homey and comfortable. This was James' second time staying here, and he says that his experience was wonderful both times.
I've been to Chicago once before, but it was a super short trip where I literally flew in for a meeting and left immediately after. Later I found out that I was only a few steps away from Millennium Park but didn't even get a minute to explore. This time I made it a point to find it no matter what... and it was just as fun as I imagined it to be!
It wouldn't be a trip without dessert! I came across Toni Patisserie & Cafe an hour before I had to head to the airport and somehow convinced myself that I had to stop in for a treat. They made me a delicious crepe, paired with coffee, faster than I could blink. The sweetest staff. I sat by the window and took in the beautiful city, while enjoying this nutella-strawberry goodness.
Watch the video to find out what else I did in Chicago! Feel free to ping me for reviews and recommendations if you're planning to go there sometime soon.
