We Need to Talk About Marcelle's Latest Lip Collection

|

Maybe it's the fact that Marcelle is a Canadian brand or it could be that it's seen as your ordinary drugstore find, but I hadn't heard much about the latest lipsticks and lip liners and we absolutely NEED to discuss them.

A while back I got sent the most beautiful range of lip products from Karine Vanesse's collection - from neutrals to pink tones and then moving into red and brown/burgundy. Each lipstick has a matching lip liner, which seriously makes your life THAT much easier when trying to achieve the perfect, plump lip! I've also used the lipliners with some of my other lipsticks and they've worked equally well.

Naturally, as you know me, I gravitate towards the more bolder colours. The red + brown/burgundy lippies were screaming my name the minute these landed in my mailbox. However, I gave all five shades an equal chance and swatched them all for you below.

The new formula of Marcelle lip liners apply very matte and may feel drying at first, but once you apply the lipstick on top it blends perfectly and adds a bit of a creamy sheen to your lips. This way you may lose some colour throughout the day, as you eat or drink copious amounts of coffee (...wait, maybe that's just me), but the lip liner STAYS PUT through it all.

Marcelle Rouge Xpression Velvet Gel in 885 Rosy Nude: If you could convince me to wear a nude lippie (very hard to do), it would be this one. It has a slight pink tint that goes well with my skin tone and doesn't look like my lips are the same colour as the rest of my face!

Marcelle Rouge Xpression Velvet Gel in 888 Pink Blossom: This is SO not my colour or something I'd reach for typically, but I still had some fun with it! It's definitely a statement pink; I think it would look fantastic with a grey smokey eye for a night out on the town. I'm not sure if your hubby will like it, but your girlfriends will be envious!

Marcelle Rouge Xpression Velvet Gel in 975 Red Carpet: YES, YES, YES. A classic bold red lip elevated with a bit of shine. If you're curious, I actually wore this lipstick + lip liner in one of my videos so you can see it in action.

Marcelle Rouge Xpression Velvet Gel in 755 Buff Nude: Here is another nude that is more subtle and almost has a grey/dark undertone in it. I really like the lip liner; it works well with some of my brown/dark nude lippies, but sometimes I also just like to line my lips and apply gloss on top. Great way to make them look juicier. ;)

Marcelle Rouge Xpression Velvet Gel in 890 Vivid Plum: This combination is my favourites from the five. Are we surprised? It reminds me SO much of a couple of shades from MAC Cosmetics, specifically Amorous and Captivate; I would definitely say it's in the same family. I already know I'm going to be using both of these A LOT this summer and fall.

Which Marcelle lip combo do you like the most from the five above? I'd love to know. Join the conversation on Twitter and Instagram!
