Maintaining my Hair Colour with Schwarzkopf Color Ultime

Tuesday, April 11, 2017

I love red hair! It looks good on any skin tone, and there are SO many variations you could try to find the perfect shade for you. However, with stubborn dark hair like mine, it’s almost impossible to get the desired bright red that I want without bleaching it, so I simply keep a reddish tint in it; it looks lovely under the sun or bright light, and I really like the warmth it brings to my face.

I get my hair done at a salon every 3-4 months when I’m in desperate need for a trim and colour correction, but while I wait for the next cycle, I maintain my roots and overall vibrancy with an at-home hair colouring kit! I use one about every 6 weeks.

Schwarzkopf, a professional salon brand, recently came out with a line of hair colouring products, Color Ultime, that is readily available at your local drugstore (Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada), and it brings the salon quality right to your home!

I’m excited to try this new collection. Schwarzkopf is a popular, trusted, well-known brand and I’ve always liked anything I’ve tried by them. Colour Ultime is available in 20+ high definition colours, all divided into 5 categories:
  • Iconic Blondes
  • Flaming Reds
  • Glowing Coppers
  • Divine Brunettes
  • Magnificent Blacks
Can you guess which colour range I’m going to pick? I’m pretty predictable, so yes, of course I went for Flaming Reds, specifically the shade 5.29 Vintage Red. The at-home kit comes with Colour Cream, an application bottle with Developer Lotion, gloves, and a tube of Intense Care Elixir to apply  generously after washing the hair dye out.

You can see in these photos that I’m in desperate need for a touch-up. It’s time to fix my red tint and bring some vibrancy and brightness back to my hair! Come back in a few days and stay tuned on my Instagram and YouTube as I unveil the results of Schwarzkopf Color Ultime and how it worked for me.
