Side-Swept Braid & Loose Curls for this Holiday Season

Thursday, December 21, 2017

WOW! I’m not sure what happened this year, but I can barely grasp that we’re SO close to Christmas and 2018 is around the corner. Lately, I’ve been finding ways to cut my beauty routine in half so I can spend more time on other things that matter, and yes, that includes hair and makeup for holiday parties!

Continue reading if you’re curious how I achieved this look, PLUS a couple of cute gift ideas from Goody.

As someone who rushes every morning with only a few minutes to spare on my crazy, wild hair, I knew I needed to come up with something that is quick, uses little to no effort or accessories, yet still screams glamorous.

I begin by curling my hair to create big, loose curls and brush them out using the Goody Detangle It Brush. Once I’ve got the curls to stay in a good place, I take a good chunk of hair from one side of my face, and split it into three strands for braiding. If you’d like to go more sophisticated, a french braid would also look excellent. However, because I want to continue the flow of loose, effortless curls I want the braid to blend right in. Keep braiding all the way down and secure it with a Goody Ouchless Elastic.

Once you have the braid in place, you can tease it a little with a Goody Amp It Up comb and use your fingers to slightly loosen up the braid a bit more.

This holiday season, I promised myself to stay away from the classic smokey eye and play more on the lips… and that’s exactly what we’ve done here! Using the Jaclyn Hill x Morphe palette, I played with the light neutral shades, built the crease to show depth, and perfected the eyes with black eyeliner and mascara. To emphasize on the lips and cheeks, I went ahead with deep berry tones, and that my friends, completes the look!

Simple, right? This look, with makeup and hair, takes me under 20 minutes and is well received! I’ve had friends come up to me, touch my hair to try and figure out what I’ve done.

As this is holiday season, I highly recommend looking into Goody products to include as cute stocking stuffers or a nice bundle of hair accessories for a lady in your life! Goody has great options in terms of helpful accessories like the Simple Styles collections, as well as a variety of fun headbands and clips for you to get creative with your hair in the new year. I bet you could even pick up a thing or two for yourself, too! ;)
