Review of Drybar Tress Press Digital Styling Iron

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

Back in November when I was packing for our mini trip to Quebec City, the WORST thing happened - my beloved straightener died on me; one that I had for almost 4-5 years. Fortunately, I had a backup one for the coming weeks but it didn't work that well.

Needless to say, it was something to keep my hair from looking like Ms. Frizzle until Christmas. Of course, this was the perfect opportunity for James to buy me a new straightener! I had a few on my wish list, and while the Drybar Tress Press Digital Styling Iron wasn't on top, it won my heart immediately.

If you're in the market for a new straightener that is less than $200 and does the job quickly and efficiently, I definitely recommend trying this adorable bright yellow tool from Drybar! Here are some pros and cons with this straightener that I hope you find helpful.

Keep in mind that my hair is silky + fine (almost too fine...) and gets damaged easily but not too difficult to maintain.

  • This thing heats up FAST! If you're in a rush to get out the door, give it a few minutes and I promise it will get to the temperature you want in seconds.
  • It glides smoothly through my hair, without crimping or getting stuck. I've definitely had those straighteners that get stuck half way or pull too hard; this one does the job without leaving me feeling achy!
  • Whether you're looking for beachy waves or voluminous curls, this straightener can make it happen! Confession: I've never been able to curl my hair with a straightener before, however, it is SO easy with the Drybar Tress Press Digital Styling Iron.

  • The buttons seem flimsy, and I'm worried they may stop working or I may damage them so I'm usually pretty careful with this straightener.
  • If it's not heated or at the temperature you need for your hair, you may not get the best results. I always recommend high heat, but MAKE SURE you are using heat-protecting products.

Have you recently picked up a new hairstyling tool that you love? I'm now looking for curling rod recommendations. Tweet me and let me know!
