Tips for Self-Care & Re-Energizing Yourself This Spring

Wednesday, April 18, 2018

Ever have those days (or weeks) where you can’t keep your focus or things don’t feel right? You’re definitely not alone. We all have fire and energy inside of us, and when we’re trying to accomplish so much on an everyday basis, sometimes that energy can burn out. I hear this is definitely the case during the cusp of seasonal change, too!

However, when this does happen, it’s important for us to acknowledge that it’s happening, take a step back and slowly begin again by doing a few things for yourself and what makes you, your mind and your body, happy. Here are three simple ways to help you re-energize or indulge in self-care in order to get back on track again.

Set Your Intention Every Morning

It’s okay to sleep in sometimes, and it’s fine to ease into your morning if you’re not feeling 100%. However, when you are finally ready to tackle the world, take a few minutes to think about what you really, truly want to accomplish (with your day, career or life), write it down and meditate. Not only will this bring a sense of calmness in your day first thing in the morning, but you will also be aware of what you’d like to do, and hopefully create a path to get there.

Pay Attention to Your Skin

Your skin is usually one of the first physical signs to show if you’re feeling anxious, stressed or have low energy. When I’m knee-deep preparing for an event or working tirelessly on a campaign, I start to notice an unusual amount of redness or bumps on my face!

It’s important to cleanse on a regular basis, but even more so during times when you’re feeling a lot of pressure or having a hard time coping with work/life balance. I look for skincare products that are preventative, repair damage and block any pollutants that may be affecting my skin and health.

Yves Rocher recently re-formulated and re-launched it’s Elixir Jeunesse collection, which is meant for detoxifying and cleansing the skin. Each product has extract from the Aphloia plant, known for its strengthening + restoring properties, perfectly fit for this line. I like to indulge in this collection about 2-3 times a week when I need a good boost of energy and to refresh my skin, however, you can use a lot of these on a regular basis:

From this line, I highly recommend:
  • Yves Rocher Repair + Anti-Pollution Cleansing Micellar Water - Can be used regularly (morning, afternoon, evening) to effectively remove dirt and any traces of makeup; it absorbs into the skin seamlessly without leaving any residue from the product.
  • Yves Rocher Anti-Pollution + Detox Daily Exfoliating Cleanser - The tiny, natural micrograins feel so good as you gently cleanse and exfoliate your face; I love the feeling SO much. If you have sensitive skin and have a hard time with other exfoliants, you should definitely try this!

Feed Your Soul with Fruits & Veggies

Friends, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve felt down and uninspired, to then instantly get uplifted with a refreshing smoothie. There is a big movement on health and having a power smoothie or protein shake to go with your workouts, but honestly, sometimes you just need something delicious packed with fruits, vegetables… and maybe some sugar!

One of my favourite go-to smoothies when I want something sweet and delicious has peach yogurt, strawberries, mango, kale, a dash of juice and water.

Sometimes I will put on a mask as I prep my smoothie meal. These days I’ve been using Yves Rocher Repair + Anti-Pollution Detoxifying Flash Mask, which you can leave on for 8-10 minutes, then simply remove any excess with a delicate cloth or cotton pad. I promise, you will look absolutely radiant!

After this I go in with the Yves Rocher Repair + Anti-Pollution Restructuring Cream (daytime) if I’m looking for something really nourishing that will penetrate deep into the skin, and top it with the Yves Rocher Double-Action Essence Repair + Anti-Pollution Serum and Yves Rocher Repair + Anti-Pollution Reviver Roll-on Eye Gel that I’ve previously talked about.

Besides focusing on your intention, taking care of your skin and body, remember to add a little fun and relaxation! Sometimes, all you need to re-energize and get your focus back is to have a personal dance party, go for a jog, attend a yoga class, listen to your favourite playlist or binge-watch This Is Us; just make sure to do something that fulfills you.
